There are many outlets for students to make money while they try to get by financially in college. One of the more popular ways is to make an account and sell products on the website Etsy. Etsy is an e-commerce website focused on handmade or vintage items and supplies, as well as unique factory-manufactured items.

Items that can be sold on Etsy range from jewelry, bags, clothing, posters, tchotchkes, etc. The shipping is made simple and personable, so if you are the one selling a product you are also the one physically shipping it to the buyer.

On a smaller scale, Virginia Tech (as well as other colleges) have ‘buy/sell’ pages on Facebook where students can sell and auction off basically anything they want. It is mainly female students that are selling products on these websites. The transactions are done through Venmo and shipments are hand delivered.

Also, the app Curtsy is another way for students to make extra money by selling their clothing. This app is similar to Etsy where the seller is responsible for the shipping. Both have their perks, it is just up to the individual and what they prefer.
